Friday April 19 Speaker:Missy Zivney, Assistant Director of Refuge of Light

This is the first step in an action plan Grassroots America is taking on to help fight human trafficking in Smith County.  Grassroots America is in the process of engaging local ministries, law enforcement, the district attorney’s office, and state and national activists who daily fight the scourge of human trafficking.

Speaker: Missy Zivney, Assistant Director of  Refuge of Light.  Ms. Zivney is a courageous woman on a mission to fight the growing problem of human trafficking and to save its victims.  Ms. Zivney will outline the ministry’s work and explain why it is time for our community to rise up against this dark trade. 

Refuge of Light is a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a long term safe home that provides physical, mental, and spiritual healing in an effort to overcome the brutalization of modern day slavery, called ‘sex trafficking’ in the lives of victimized girls under the age of 18 years within the United States.  Refuge of Light is based in Whitehouse, Texas.   Learn more:  http://refugeoflight.org/

Catered box lunches are available for purchase, or attendees may bring their own lunches. The public is welcome to attend.
