We are up against construction and business lobbyists who want to keep cheap labor! If this session ends with no meaningful illegal alien reforms, it will be two years before we will have another chance. We cannot afford to wait! We must save Texas from becoming California!
WHAT YOU CAN DO: Please start calling and faxing today! If you don’t get through, call and fax again on Thursday and on Monday.
Strategy and talking points for your calls and faxes:
House Bills 12 and 183: Restricting Sanctuary Cities; Status: stuck in Chairman Todd Hunter’s Calendars Committee; Why support? Rule of Law; safety and security for American citizens;
House Bill 3252: Verification of immigration status for employment via e-verify; Status: stuck in Chairman Byron Cook’s State Affairs Committee; Why support? Jobs for American citizens;
House Bill 608: Tracking/reporting cost of taxpayer-funded services and benefits to illegals; Status: stuck in Chairman Byron Cook’s State Affairs Committee; Why support? Heavy burden to already over-burdened taxpayers; funds for illegals will cut services to citizens.
House Bill 197: requiring documentation of legal status in order to engage in state-licensed occupations; Status: stuck in Chairman Todd Hunter’s Calendars Committee; Why support? Rule of Law and jobs for American citizens.
We are voters who are concerned about border security, jobs, high taxes, and protecting services for citizens only. Tell elected officials we want a floor vote!
We are calling on Governor Perry to speak out on the sanctuary city bills (HB 12 and HB 183) and help pull them out of committee since this was one of the Governor’s “emergency” legislative issues for the session. The Governor has been silent on this since the beginning of the session. He needs to step up.
Overall message: Stop the games. Stop listening to the cheap labor special interest groups! Texas citizens need the jobs. Texas citizens deserve the security. Texas taxpayers should not keep shouldering the burden for people who are here illegally and take needed funds away from American citizens.

“If you love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you.May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”
