JoAnn: Defend the Ancient Landmarks!

Warning to political weasels & spineless squishes…

Head for the tall grass…she’s back!

This Friday is the first time I’ve been to a Grassroots America meeting since February 6 when I presented the legislative priorities for the 84th session. Since then, I’ve had surgery, followed the legislative session, and recovered from both fairly well.

This Friday, we’ll be talking about the legislative session – what did and didn’t happen. State Rep. Matt Schaefer will join me on stage for a conversation about the session and what it means for the future.

I’m really looking forward to seeing my “Grassroots America” family! Don’t disappoint me!

In the meantime, I’d like to share something that has been on my mind for the past several weeks:

Proverbs 22:28 (KJV):  Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

This verse has both natural and spiritual applications. In ancient Israel, landmarks were property lines or boundaries. Stones, stakes, and monuments established property boundaries, protecting property from infringement.

In the spiritual realm, Satan and those influenced by him have worked from the beginning of his fall to rid the earth of the ancient moral landmarks – especially, the Ten Commandments. He knows that without these standards in the earth, he will be able to destroy society. In our own nation, efforts to remove these “ancient landmarks” have intensified.

Without respect for human life – from conception to natural death – human lives are cheap, expendable, and viewed as parasites by pagan earth worshippers. State-dependent lives are important to gain and retain governing power. Worker lives are important to feed taxes to Big Government.

Without respect for authority, our streets are being reduced to chaos and violence.

Without the respect for and ardent defense of the boundaries and laws that establish our borders and preserve national and state sovereignty, our uniquely American system of laws, personal freedoms, and government will collapse.

Without respect for the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, the endangered family structure will finally give way to cultural chaos. Children will lose the last anchor. Normal will be seen as abnormal. The final stabilizing supports will be destroyed, and society will be turned upon its head.

Without the respect for parental rights, the Nanny State reaches into homes, dictating when, where, and how far from home children can play. Having “latchkey” children becomes a criminal offense.

Finally, the freedom of thought, conscience, and religion is unquestionably a foundational principle of liberty in the United States – an ancient landmark. Our Founders believed that government should never prohibit the free exercise of religious faith nor compel us to violate our closely held beliefs.

The “exercising” of faith is not limited to attending church; instead, it includes teaching, practice, observance, and worship; therefore, the right to protect our own conscience and actually put into practice the tenets of our faith is a reasonable expectation of a freedom-loving people. Without this liberty, it is a short distance to utter tyranny.

Without respect for free speech, which includes the right to speak out, the right to speak in defense of life, the right to speak out in support of law and order, the right to speak in opposition to government actions, the right to speak against same-sex unions, and the right to contend for the reverse of all these – without this liberty, we are headed for hell on earth – totalitarianism.

My friends, our fight is to defend the ancient landmarks in Texas before they are all removed.

Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Let’s discuss the ancient landmarks on Friday and whether or not they were protected this past legislative session.

See you Friday!

JoAnn
