Location: Regional Training and Development Complex (RTDC), TJC West Campus, 1530 SSW Loop 323, Room 104

Time: 8:00 AM to noon

Purpose: Human trafficking is the second largest and fastest growing criminal activity in the world. The slavery of human trafficking generates $32 billion annually, worldwide (source: International Labor Office). Within the United States, annually, there are 100,000 to 300,000 individuals sexually trafficked (source: U.S. Department of Justice).

The children in our community are at risk, especially those with little family support and guidance. It is believed one in three runaways is approached for sex trafficking within the first 48 hours of leaving home. Children 12-14 are targeted by these human traffickers. Our goal is to educate law enforcement and the public to recognize some of the signs of human trafficking.

Because human trafficking is a growing crime across Texas and in our area, it is vitally important to educate our Smith County community on every aspect of this heinous criminal activity, which violates human rights and destroys lives for profit.
