FACT: Most TX GOP elected officials have turned their backs on limited government.

Texans want to stop Big Government sprawl. Their politicians don’t.

The 89thTX Legislative session is breaking records on spending and growing government while lying about “$51 Billion in property tax relief.” Their projected spending increase is $45 Billion (before Conference Committee Christmas tree ornaments are added). This doesn’t even include their “off budget” spending spree.

Even worse, according to sage government spending analyst @BillPeacock3,

“…the combined surplus funds available for the Texas Legislature this session for spending or using for property tax relief range from $70 billion to $80 billion in state funds.”

Based on government-growing bills in the pipeline, Republicans plan to spend most of that and throw taxpayers a few crumbs, all while crowing about how conservative they are.

Meanwhile, time is running out for bills that satisfy the legislative priorities identified by 2024 Republican Primary voters. 12 of the 13 have NOT passed both legislative chambers to the Governor’s desk:

  • Eliminate property taxes without increasing overall Texans’ tax burden?

NO

  • Create Border Protection Unit to prevent illegal entry and deport illegals, helping Trump/Homan and preparing for the time when Trump is no longer President?

NO

  • Require employers to protect jobs for legal workers by penalizing hiring of illegal aliens?

NO

  • End all subsidies and public services (in-state tuition, enrollment in public schools) for illegal aliens?

NO

  • Send TX Resolution to Congress to oppose any form of amnesty or legalization of illegal border crossers?

NO

  • Prohibit TX National Guard deployment to foreign conflict unless Congress formally declares war?

NO

  • Make gold and silver legal tender, easily spendable through the TX Bullion Depository?

NO

  • End vaccine mandates and coercions?

NO

  • Close Republican Primary to prevent Democrat tampering?

NO

  • Restore authority to the TX AG to prosecute election crimes?

NO

  • Authorize a TX Constitutional amendment election to require proof of citizenship to vote?

NO

  • Ban sale of TX Land to citizens, gov’ts, entities from China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia?

NO

The one “priority” that passed – “Texas parents and guardians should have the right to select schools, whether public or private, for their children – with funding following the student” – checked a political box, but at what cost to truth, liberty, and fiscal health?

The devil is in those not yet widely known details. Propagandist, well-paid lobbyists are spending tons of money papering over those details!

Meanwhile, the limited number of parents who can access the ESAs will have new gov’t compliance boxes to check. The program funds “choice” for less than 1.5% of the 6.3 million school-age children in TX but dumps $8 Billion more into the $100 Billion-a-year gov’t school system with ZERO added accountability measures! That’s right – NONE. Not one single elected Republican official in Austin has answered this question – “How will this help failing schools achieve academic results for all children?” Yet, public school is where most children will remain.

Texans want to stop Big Government sprawl. They want real results. Their politicians don’t.
